Fern Carnage !!!

These ferns (cyathea rebeccae) were growing very well in the plastic storage crate , then   I decided that it was time for them to 'man -up' , so I placed them in the shade and took off the lid . I came back a few hours later and  ... wow , they didn't look happy .
I put the lid back on , but it was too late , the damage was done and they all withered away . Next time I'm going to leave the lid on. Am I sad ? no just a bit frustrated , like %$3fe/?? heck ! but I still have quite a few left  that have taken longer to grow and have not had any nurturing from me, they will replace what I lost . I have just started a new batch of ferns , cyathea robertsiana  .
