evolving drawing

I started doing this one around September, most of or practically all my stuff is abstract , in other words I'm scared of committing myself to something and yet I yearn to create pictures of things that are subjective . I also hope that if I keep making marks just through intuition  {rather than trying to depict anything in particular) , something will eventually pop out of the chaos , I hope .

well nothing really pops out on its own, you have to commit to something otherwise you end up with something fuzzy

then again , I suppose you cant rush these things , its best to put it aside for a while , so as to look at it with fresh eyes .

Or maybe its a matter of not giving up .

dicksonia antarctica 10 months old

When I started to grow these ferns from spores back in February 2011 i was pretty confident , like yep I'm going to have lots of baby ferns pretty soon , well nothing much happened for a while. Over the coarse of weeks leading into months I pretty much gave up any hope, it looked like I was growing moss . I didnt even bother watering them but I left them covered. Come springtime in September I thought I might as well water the moss , it could be rare Queensland moss carried down with the weather. Now the moss is really beginning to look more ferny every day, if every one of these spornlings grows up I'm literally going to have thousands ferns. You really have to be patient and persist , nature runs at its own pace .
